We work together with the young person and family to gather information from various sources in order to generate ideas as to why a problem has developed and how come efforts so far haven't managed to sort things out.

When working with a family we think about all sorts of information, mainly from meetings and discussions to gather relevant people's opinions such as Mum and/or Dad, a teacher or siblings.  Sometimes we observe the child or young person in their day to day settings, and often use different kinds of assessments like questionnaires and rating scales. All of this information helps the clinician to build a picture of what is “going on” and how best to understand the family/young persons’ concerns and difficulties. The clinician will then work with the family and young person to identify objectives and agree a plan to help them achieve their goals and overcome their difficulties.

We believe in the importance of keeping the young person at the centre of everything we do and working in a way which best meets the needs of them and their family. The Aspire team are able to see young people and families within the comfort and safety of their own homes at times which are most convenient to the family and young person.

Referrals are straightforward via phone or email and we aim to offer an initial screening appointment within 2 weeks of referral.
